A wоnderful home to visit before the New Year

0e

It is a wоnderful home to visit just before the New Year! While being “young” it keeps stories of several generations and unites the entire family. Family inherited belongings, projects inspired by trips and lots of love… Today hospitable Marina and Alexander kindly share with us the stories of their home.

Questions are answered by Marina

What is a home?

The home is a nest for our family. It is a place where every family member is welcomed, loved and protected.

What was your inspiration while creating your home?

We always wanted to have a home, which would answer our taste and lifestyle. We looked through many projects but never found something, which we could call “our home”. So at the end we decided to use one project as a base and changed it to our preference. We thought about all the small details. Six month before our house was built, we lived there in our imagination.

What is your favorite part of the house?

My study with an old wooden desk, antique lamp and a fireplace. It has a wonderful view to the pine forest. It is a great place to work, to think, to dream.

What is your home missing and what are you dreaming to have?

I would like to have a clock with a quarter stroke.

Does your home change from season to season?

Our home is an alive creature. In winter, it is filled the white light from snow and the pine tree brunches are reflected on its windows. Outside our cat Mus’ requests milk. In summer, all doors and windows are open and you can feel a cool wind through entire house.

What do you do first when you come home?

I always say: “ Hello home! It is us!”

With what smell do you associate your home with?

Light smell of my husband’s cigars and a burning wood from the fireplace.

And what about sound?

In winter it is “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” by Chaikovsky and in summer it is jazz music.

Favorite home recipe. Probably it is shrimps in tomato sauce. It is all about sauce and the recipe can vary.
